We all know the feeling, that feeling of drowning, the inability to breathe as your world crashes down around you. You try and piece it back together but realize that you don't know how to fix a car or how to stitch a cut. The feeling of helplessness can paralyze us, freeze our abilities to even think.
Underqualified and Overwhelmed is an honest reflection of such a period of time in one mother's life as she watches her premie twins struggle for the strength to survive. In today's plethora of 'self-help' books, Taneshia offers a transparent, open perspective any Christian can relate to--from the fear to the desperation and finally to the clinging onto the Lord's promise. So often, we try and gloss over what it means to be a Christian and go through great trials, to the point that many feel ashamed by their hurt. This book offers not only a testimony to God's faithfulness, but invites the reader to walk in his or her own journey of fear or suffering while clinging to that same faithfulness.
The power of testimony should not be dismissed. As Christians, we can often keep God's work to ourselves, fearing to boast or brag or be ridiculed for our faith. Hard truth? We fear if we claim a miracle, someone else will mock us and attribute that miracle to 'science' or 'good doctors'. Or if we describe the transformation God has done in our lives, or His endless provision, people will label us as conceited. Yet, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord!" (2 Corinthians 10: 17-18) Let Taneshia's story inspire you, challenge you, and guide you to a deeper dependence on the God who loves you with a greater love than we can imagine.

I remember being so far away throughout this time in Taneshia's life, feeling useless and frustrated and desiring to be at her side. And still it was she who redirected my frustrations towards prayer. And it was in this time I found myself praying over my sister and her precious ones almost ceaselessly. Even for those of us who have not faced a pain or fear this strong, Underqualified and Overwhlemed provides valuable insight into the heart of the situation so that we might be better sisters and brothers in times of trial.
